Roman amphitheatre - Durres (Albania)

Roman amphitheatre - Durres (Albania)

While traversing the narrow streets in the heart of Durres, Albania, you come across a wide-open space where rows of buildings stand atop: it is the Roman amphitheatre, one of the most significant monuments of ancient times and certainly the largest in the Balkans. It was constructed in the early 2nd century A.D., during the reign of Emperor Trajan.

Archimeter has conducted 3D laser scanner surveys of this Roman amphitheater, creating detailed graphical representations. These surveys were subsequently utilized by an architecture studio for a restoration and enhancement project.
